Who are Soma Talk and why choose to learn with us?
You might be wondering how this training is different from the myriad of other Trauma-Informed trainings available?
The answer is simple: expertise and experience.
Grace & Martine are highly qualified clinically, as yoga teachers, university-qualified educators, international body- led trauma educators. Most importantly we are living living, breathing and doing the work in our personal practice, teaching and clinical work.
We have both observed the extent to which an absence of regulation has impacted standards within this domain. It is not uncommon to find individuals in the trauma world without any formal clinical training or experience in managing trauma responses within the training environment.
In addition, there is much confusion about what qualifies as “experience” in terms of teaching embodiment and trauma integration. Lived experience can of course add a richness to ones toolkit, but often leads to facilitators who can only offer advice, but are unable to hold a space where students and clients can uncover their own.
Whilst ones subjective experience is important, Grace and Martine also teach reflectively from clinical examples, case studies and current clinical practice working at the forefront of the ever changing and dynamic world of trauma therapy and its inclusion of the BODY.
What to Expect from Soma Talk Training….
This 100 hour training provides a comprehensive immersion into the worlds of embodiment and trauma sensitive body therapy, with constant application to the theory to concrete practices.
The body is our largest data reservoir and the best tool we have as individual practitioners, teachers, psychotherapists, somatic coaches, wellbeing professionals and facilitators of all kinds. The body is also where so many individuals find they are stuck; stuck in trauma responses, stuck in habitual reaction patterns, stuck in a rut. Not only is the stuckness held in the body, but due to chronic dissociation in trauma-affected populations, it is largely unreachable.
The key tools that embodied, trauma-sensitive practitioners require must focus on making the body reachable. Practitioners must have the knowledge and skills to guide clients to find their own voice, and develop their own sense of having a reliable, feelable, and safe body.
Being a trauma-sensitive professional requires a sound knowledge of trauma theory and also the ability to be allow space for developing interoception, presence, and a felt sense of internal and relational safety.
This is deeply personal and subjective. A practitioner our journey is first to become embodied and self-led, so we can then hold a safe and reliable space for others to relearn how to FEEL in a visceral and embodied way.
Embodied Trauma-Sensitive Yintegration is unique in that it brings together the most relevant research, clinical case studies, and body therapy practices. At Soma Talk, the practice of Yin is the experiential, body therapy container. Yin is the container for feeling as a practice.
THE BODY is our largest reservoir and the best tool we have as individual practitioners, teachers, psychoterapists, somatic coaches, wellbeing professionals and facilitators of all kinds.
YIN is the portal to it.
The learning outcomes for this training are multifaceted being both theory-based and experiential. Becoming a trauma-focused professional requires not only a sound knowledge of trauma theory, but the skills to enhance interoception, cultivate presence, and nurture a felt sense of internal and relational safety. This is deeply personal and subjective. Our journey as practitioners is to become embodied and self-led. In this way, we can hope to hold a safe and reliable space where others can relearn how to FEEL.
YIN is ultimately the foundational practice of
feeling
The missing link is the Integration piece. Often the therapeutic start point. We believe to truly heal we need to have a sense of a safe body, not object. To be embodied and finally body Integration.
Trauma Sensitive
The Start Point…
Safety is the Therapy - Steven Porges
Being Trauma Sensitive is an approach, not a practice. Simpy put it is offering the space and safety to simply have a felt sense of the body and support choice making.
Trauma is an extreme lack of choice. Simply learning is the start point.
Trauma relies on exteroceptive awareness so the shift in orientation from the external to the internal is the key attribute in beng Trauma Sensitive. When safety is a subjective felt experience, a world of feeling, embodiment and integration is possible.
Embodiment
The methodolgy…..
I can feel, what now? Learning to experience and ‘be with’ the feeling is the next step towards whole healing. Meeting your proteectors, shadows and parts of self that get fragmented and deeply stored.
Yin is the Somatic container or shadow, the ultimate body inner work practice.
Yin can integrate elements of somatic experiencing, which help practictioners build a more robust nervous system, enhance capcity to tolerate being taken outside the windoe of tolerance. In short being more able to bear reality.
Authentically being in your body with capacity is what sets Trauma Sensitive practitioners apart.
Yintegration
The healing……
Yin is the container for metabolising of affect/emotion.
The anchoring, the process of digesting ones experience so as not to become overwhelemed or controlled by it. This is essential for our self regulation, emotional literacy, safe expression and ability to relate to self and others.
Yintegration is when we can feel, regulate and integrate all of our lifes experience and be present to the here and now.

Our Soma Talk Methodology
The shift in orientation from the external to the internal is the key attribute in being trauma-sensitive. But ultimately, being trauma-sensitive is an approach, not a practice. Every approach needs a practice to ground it, and give it roots. This is what Yin does.
Yin provides containment for the ‘feeling’. Feeling at your edge is the premise for practice to be experienced. For the process to unfold,
Inhabiting your body - Developing a reliable, feelable self
Exploring protectors and body armouring
Reconnecting to feeling as a sensation and emotion
Embodied integration - Yin as the metabolising of effect
Is this for you, if you’re a:
Psychoterapist who wants to bring the body the into the clinic and learn the step-by-step process of metabolising affect
Depth Psychologist who wants to work with the body shadow
Coaches who finds themself at a loss when their clients are stuck, disconnected from their body and its wisdom, and eager for a methodology that makes the body accessible
Healthcare professional or teacher who has to regularly navigate dysregulated nervous systems, and needs practical and effective tools to enhance the zone of resilience
Yoga, Meditation or Spiritual teacher curious about a somatic process of learning to bear more reality. Yin is embodied Buddhism, somatic Daoism.
Teachers - Before we can learn, we need to have a regulated nervous system. Creating space to open the mind to curiosity and wonder.
Those on the path to unveiling their ‘true self’ - seeking to activate their own voice and return to a more embodied sense of self and your own inner wisdom and leadership.hip.
Where other trainings make empty promises, at Soma Talk we are committed to supporting you on a journey as a self-reflective practitioner first.
