Part 1

This course will support you to transform your ongoing relationship with anxiety and depression from a psychological, physical and relational perspective. 

You will be given the knowledge, tools and practice through yoga, psychology and neuroscience that will not only provide relief, but will create the starting point for long lasting change through neuralplasticity.

It’s so true that you can’t relax yourself calm, and you can’t talk down anxiety too well either. You have all that you need within you to create a more balanced, settled nervous system, through knowledge, awareness and practice.

Course Outline:

Week 1 

Normalising Anxiety & Depression - changing your relationship with these normal adaptive states, by understanding your unique system and how and why it responds in the way that it does. Understanding the difference between stress and chronic stress and learning that calm is not always a necessary state. 

Week 2

Understanding  body based interoceptive cues of being in your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. Learning when your body is adapting to the past or if your body is responding to present stimuli. Develop awareness and ability to change your nervous system response to a more present, adaptive state when you choose to.

Week 3

Balancing your left and right brain hemispheres. Learning your uniques pre-disposition and incorporating techniques to be able to determine which part of your brain is responding to your anxiety / depression. Learning how to change and balance your pre-dominant brain hemisphere responses. Learning how to act from a ‘Wise Mind’ perspective - the merging of logic and emotion. We often attempt this in talk therapy and struggle to think and feel simultaneously, here we learn to do it in our bodies and transfer the skill to your mind.

Week 4

Using  active mindfulness techniques in conjunction with yoga to develop your capacity to choose how to show up in your body and  learning to manage your sensory arousal or avoidance of arousal to support you have more confidence in making choices that create outcomes that feel healthy for your system.

Each week there will be movement, psycho education, and embodiment practices. 

Neural plasticity is best enhances not by ‘knowing’ information, but by having the felt experience of it. Looking forward to seeing you on the mat.

 

Class & Course Schedule

Join Martine in the next Yoga for Anxiety and Depression livestream course (part 1) starting on Saturday 11th May 2024 at 09:30am (AWST). The course will be held on the 11th and 18th of May and the 1st and 8th June 2024.

Please note there is no session on May 25th 2024.

This class will be recorded if you can’t attend live.

Part 2 is scheduled for the 29th June and 6th, 13th and 20th of July 2024
